Richland County’s Water Quality Buffers Ordinance
Richland County Council is considering a proposal to take away your land with additional “Water Quality Buffers.” An ordinance proposed by the Council will limit property owners’ use of their land that falls into a “buffer zone”– up to a 100-foot strip of land that surrounds rivers, lakes, streams or wetlands. Under the new ordinance,
any use of your land within the buffer zone will be strictly regulated and altogether prohibited.

Spartanburg Zoning
Zoning refers to the assignment of land, by a municipality, for a particular use. Common zoning designations are residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial. If enacted, Spartanburg County regulations could dictate what kinds of structures and activities, and sometimes what size of lots, extraction of natural resources, maintenance or types of pets or livestock, or other activities, are allowed in certain zones.

Prices at gas pumps are at some of the highest levels ever this summer, and Americans want answers. In particular, they want the names and numbers of those to blame. To answer that question, perhaps, they should simply consult the phone book, or look in the mirror. Because the main culprits in the rising gas prices aren't necessarily members of OPEC, but the American people who support policies that block new drilling and the building of new refineries. It's that simple.
